Creed frontman Scott Stapp and his wife Jaclyn Nesheiwat have filed for a divorce, deciding to part ways after 18 years of marriage.
Scott and Jaclyn, who first met at an event for Muscular Dystrophy Association in New York, got married on February 11, 2006.
According to a statement obtained by Billboard, a representative for Stapp said in a statement that Scott intends to navigate this difficult time privately.
“After much prayer and consideration, Jaclyn has chosen to end her 18-year marriage with Scott,” Jaclyn’s representative said in a statement. “It’s been a long battle, and while this isn’t the future she envisioned, she wishes him the best. The welfare of their children will always be her utmost concern, and she kindly asks for privacy during this personal time.”
Jaclyn filed for divorce first in June 2022 and later withdrew. Stapp filed his divorce application in Williamson County, Tennessee, in May 2023, according to court documents obtained by People.
The couple share three children together – daugher Milan (17), and sons Daniel (13) and Anthony (6). Stapp is also dad to son Jagger (25), with ex-wife Hillaree Burns.
In March, Stapp opened up to People about the ways in which Jaclyn and their children had helped him truly understand the meaning of family following a difficult childhood.
“I never had a family like this. They’ve really demonstrated to me what a family is all about, and having each other’s backs and sticking together,” he said. “It’s definitely something that’s rubbed off on me and that I’ve learned from, and hopefully we’ll be able to carry that forward in my life no matter how the story unfolds.”
