Demi Lovato recently released a rock version of her 2015 superhit “Cool for the Summer,” the first single from her fifth studio album, Confident.
The new version, produced by Warren “Oak” Felder, Keith “Ten4” Sorrelles, and Alex Nice, features a darker sound backed up by electric guitars and grittier lyric delivery by Lovato, unlike the original, which featured poppy synths and up-tempo instrumentation.
“Take me down into your paradise/ Don’t be scared, ’cause I’m your body type/ Just something that we wanna try/ ‘Cause you and I, we’re cool for the summer,” Lovato sings in the new version.
“Cool for the Summer,” originally released in 2015, peaked at No. 10 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. The song spent a total of 20 weeks on the chart.
