In two performances at Madison Square Garden on August 1, 1971, George Harrison and his famous friends helped bring attention to the humanitarian crisis taking place at the time in Bangladesh. Now, those star-studded, sold-out shows are finally becoming available on streaming services worldwide. George Harrison and friends Grammy-winning The Concert for Bangladesh features celebrated performances by Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton. Ravi Shankar, Leon Russell, as well as an appearance by fellow Beatle Ringo Starr.

The pair of benefit shows – along with sales from the subsequent triple-album and feature film –  helped raise millions of dollars in aid for UNICEF at the time. And all net proceeds from the streaming of The Concert for Bangladesh will be donated to The George Harrison Fund for UNICEF, which is “a joint undertaking between the Harrison family and UNICEF USA to support UNICEF programs that provide lifesaving assistance to children, including health, education, nutrition and emergency relief.” (People)
