During their upcoming “The Saviors Tour” this summer, Green Day will perform their Dookie and American Idiot albums in full each night.
The band confirmed that they will perform the classic albums in their entirety on each and every date of the stadium tour, along with “a bunch of your other favorites, new and old, all summer long.”
“What a f**kin’ moment it’s going to be,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt told Rolling Stone. “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
Green Day celebrated Dookie‘s 30th anniversary with the release of a deluxe edition and a surprise club show in Las Vegas last October, when the trio performed the 1994 LP in full, from “Burnout” to “F.O.D.,” and the hidden track “All By Myself.”
The band is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of American Idiot, which arrived in 2004. The record earned Green Day their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed atop the chart for three weeks.
Dookie sold more than 10 million copies in the United States, kick-starting the ’90s pop-punk explosion. American Idiot became a multiplatinum global smash after years of declining album sales.
Green Day’s Saviors tour commences on July 29 in Washington, D.C. The final show will take place on September 28 in San Diego.
