Green Day recently released a new single, “One Eyed Bastard,” and an accompanying cartoon-style music video.
A defiant pop-punk anthem that focuses on resistance, “One Eyed Bastard” marks the final song to be shared from the band’s upcoming album, Saviors.
“The American Dream Is Killing Me,” “Look Ma, ‘No Brains!” and “Dilemma” are the other singles already released from the album.
“‘One Eyed Bastard’ started off as just a riff that I had – a shuffle, almost like a Black Sabbath kind of riff. Lyrically, I was just reflecting on bad times in life,” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said about the song.
He added, “Lyrically, I was just reflecting on bad times in life. That’s the thing about nostalgia, sometimes you think, ‘That was an awful time.’ Everybody’s got that ugly place in their life where they have to deal with ugly thoughts – it could be like revenge or whatever. Thankfully, I have an outlet in songwriting.”
The band wrote on X that a very limited amount of signed CD’s and the new shirt/tri color vinyl are available at its webstore https://greenday.lnk.to/store
Saviors, which is Green Day’s 14th album, is scheduled to be released on January 19.
