Judas Priest have been announced as the replacement for Ozzy Osbourne at the upcoming Power Trip music festival.
The news came shortly after Ozzy pulled out of the music festival, saying that he is not yet ready.
Ozzy said in a statement that his original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, he optimistically moved forward.
“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed,” he said.
Ozzy added that the band that will be replacing him on Power Trip will be announced shortly. He assured that the replacement are “personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”
The heavy metal music festival will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, from October 6 to 8.
Ozzy was scheduled to take the stage on the second night of the three-day music festival alongside AC/DC. Instead, Judas Priest will take that slot on October 7.
“Power Trippers, are you ready for some Judas Priest style heavy metal?” the band asked in a statement posted on Twitter, accompanied by an updated poster of the line up. “We are ready to raise double horns way up high together keeping the metal faith at this ‘bostin’ one of a kind Power Trip world event!”
