The Rainbow Bar & Grill announced via social media last week that the ashes of late Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister will be enshrined at the iconic hangout in West Hollywood on April 19th.
A Facebook post by the Rainbow invites fans and attendees to “raise a very unique toast to Lemmy and Motorhead with the unveiling of brand new Motorhead Whiskey.”
“Please join us as we enshrine Lemmy’s ashes at the Rainbow Bar & Grill. We also invite you to raise a very unique toast to Lemmy and Motorhead with the unveiling of brand new Motorhead Whiskey,” reads the post.
The Rainbow Bar & Grill was one the late musician’s favorite haunts, where he used to play the video poker machine regularly.
The Rainbow dedicated its patio to Lemmy in November 2016, renaming it “Lemmy’s Lounge.” A life-size bronze statue of Lemmy also resides on the patio.
Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice‘s Paul Tollett agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and Motorhead on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy’s Lounge and statue.
Lemmy passed away on December 28, 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer.
