Marilyn Manson Ordered To Pay Evan Rachel Wood’s Legal Fees

Marilyn Manson has been ordered by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge A. Beudet to pay Evan Rachel Wood a whopping $326,956 – the legal expenses she incurred while defending against his defamation and emotional distress claims.

According to Rolling Stone, the judge gave the order following the removal of Manson’s claims from his still-pending lawsuit against Wood.

Although Wood had sought nearly $388,000 to pay her legal tab, the Judge said she agreed with Manson’s lawyers that some of the descriptions for billed hours were too “vague.”

In May 2023, Judge Beudet had dismissed the claims from Warner’s lawsuit on the grounds that Wood was protected by the First Amendment or litigation privileges when she made allegations against Warner, including that he raped, tortured, and threatened her.

Manson filed the defamation lawsuit in March 2022, claiming that Wood and Illma Gore, her friend, decided to “publicly cast him as a rapist and abuser” in order to “[derail his] successful music, TV, and film career.”

In May 2023, Judge Beaudet threw out many of the accusations in that lawsuit, including Manson’s assertion that Wood “recruited, coordinated, and pressured” women to make false statements about him and another alleging that Wood forged an FBI letter.

The case is not over as yet. Manson’s claims that Wood and Gore conspired to hack into his computer, impersonated him online, and made a “swatting” call for police to surround his home have yet to receive a verdict. A trial is set for May 1.
