Pearl Jam‘s “Dark Matter” climbed 6-1 to top Billboard‘s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart dated March 2, earning the band their first No. 1 on the list.
According to Luminate, “Dark Matter” earned 5.6 million airplay audience impressions in the tracking week February 16-22. The song was released February 13.

Pearl Jam’s first ruler on Rock & Alternative Airplay, which began in 2009, surpasses the band’s previous best, “The Fixer,” which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in August 2009.
“Dark Matter” has also made it to the top 10 of both Mainstream Rock Airplay (17-6) and Alternative Airplay (18-10).
The song, which is the lead single and title track from Pearl Jam’s upcoming 12th studio album, due out on April 19th, debuted at No. 39 on Adult Alternative Airplay, and bowed at No. 3 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart.
