Puscifer recently released a new song, “The Algorithm,” and its accompanying music video. The song is from the soundtrack to the “American Psycho” comic book series.
The song, with a steady mid-tempo groove, sees “Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Mat Mitchell lay down their thesis on “dopamine addiction through habitual social media use,” according to Puscifer’s press release.
“Our approach to writing ‘The Algorithm’ was not to delicately peel back the layers of the onion, but instead, to take an axe to it,” said Mat Mitchell.
The video uses original artwork from “American Psycho” comic illustrators Piotr Kowalski and Brad Simpson, and additional animation (by Tony Celano) depicting the serial’s lead characters Charlene Carruthers and Patrick Bateman.
“Joining forces with the legendary rock band Puscifer for our soundtrack to the American Psycho comic book series is an electrifying collaboration,” says Nathan Yocum, President of Sumerian Comics.
He added, “This original song brings an intensity and depth to the narrative, elevating the experience for fans and readers alike. We’re thrilled to amplify the story’s impact with Puscifer’s signature sound, creating a fusion of music and storytelling that will further captivate audiences.”
