Robby Kreiger and The Soul Savages recently released a hilarious music video for “Ricochet Rabbit,” a song from their self-titled debut album, which arrived on January 19.
The video shows a guy in a rabbit costume happily prancing around the streets of Hollywood toting a basket of carrots. The seemingly popular character is mobbed by autograph-seeking fans. Among the fans are a group of young women wearing black “Ricochet Rabbit” T-shirts.
He escapes from the crowd and sneaks through a back door into a recording studio, where Krieger and The Soul Savages are jamming out on “Ricochet Rabbit.” He then shares his carrots with the band, as the music shifts from upbeat pop-jazz tune to a spacey, psychedelic track.
The clip shows the band members playing the song, partying with the rabbit guy, drinking beer and smoking pot, and chilling out on a couch. Krieger is seen munching on a carrot and dancing alongside the rabbit guy.
The band recorded the 10-track Robby Krieger And The Soul Savages in old school style with a bunch of friends jamming and recording in a relaxed studio setting.
“I’ve had this studio for the last six or seven years, and it’s really made me branch out as a musician,” says Rock & Roll Hall of famer Robby. “We wrote together, and soul music became a big part of this album. These guys are world-class players-they’ve worked with Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kahn, Lenny Kravitz-they have that great groove pedigree.”
